Have a go at making your own bridles and reins with these durable options that Ian has tested on his own horses. Horses can be rough on bridles and reins, especially those made of expensive leather. Polished leather looks great in the show ring, but is not very practical for everyday use, particularly for horses liable to take fright and rear back while tied up. I make my bridles from rope, which can be washed along with the saddle cloth in the washing machine.
