What better business on the land than one that takes a weedy tree species and fashions the timber into useful products from floorboards to spindles.

My wife, Mary, her kids and my stepchildren, Jem and Nell, and I moved back to my family’s beef cattle farm in late 2016. My family have been on that land for five generations; I am a member of the fourth generation. We knew we wanted to make a living off the land, but we also knew that the traditional chemical-based farming and grazing practices were slowly but surely running our land into the ground.
