There is a lot of discussion about getting children outside and into the garden, how good it is for them and their wellbeing, they have less stress, a good biome, the list goes on. However, no one really talks about what to do with them once they’re in there, ripping out flowers and stomping seedlings.

To actually create a garden that will feed a child’s tummy and their mental wellbeing is hard work and takes a lot of time, of which most parents are lacking. If you were a gardener before kids, it’s hard to adjust to your new time restraints, and if you are just discovering gardening, it is difficult to maintain your enthusiasm for gardening when it looks more like messy play and

everything that is planted is dug back up soon after. Please endure! It is well worth the effort in the long run. Here are my best tips for gardening with your child and actually getting stuff done. A little effort in the begin- ning will eventually pay off.
